One sunny day last week I dropped the top & drove an hour north to meet Clare & Paul for their pre-wed in the Dales. I photographed Clare’s sister’s wedding in the dales last year and this time it’s Clare’s turn to be the bride.
Clare & Paul are loads of fun, love walking & the countryside. After noseying about their Ilkley church & cute village hall in Cracoe (AKA: the middle of nowhere) we got down to business, romping round sheep filled fields! Mind those sheep pats…
Chasing sheep in the Yorkshire Dales.
Rustique, by a gate that’s seen better days.
Apparently they’re getting little models of them to sit on a dry stone wall on their cake, so I set this puppy up.
Dry stone walls are held together with skill alone; no concrete. So I was a bit nervous having them clamber up ontop. But it was solid as a rock.
“OK, after three, chuck Clare in the pond!”
Aww. What a great couple.
It was loads of fun hitting the Dales again. It reminds me how close I am to such a beautiful area and how I need to make the effort to visit more. My mum knows all the different dales (Wharfdale, Swaledale, Wendsleydale, etc) and walks in each that end at great gastro-pubs. There’s something I’d like to learn.
