Yesterday I joined Helen & Ian for their wedding photography at Goldsborough Hall, nestled in North Yorkshire between Harrogate & Knaresborough.
I hope you enjoy the story of their wedding day!
It was a beautiful morning when my wingman Hamish & I headed into Goldsborough.
The forecast was the ol’sunny intervals black cloud from noon onwards, so I wasn’t holding my breath for a full day like this!
But Goldsborough Hall certainly looked stunning in the sunshine, surrounded by daffs & spring blossoms.
It’s a fab building, inside and out, and I always enjoy shooting here. It’s owned by a really lovely family who still live here, on the 2nd floor of the Hall.
Helen and the girls were having a ball in the bridal suite, enjoying being pampered and painting each others nails!
The Jenny Packham wedding dress suited Helen down to the ground!
As did the springy, Scottish Thistled bouquets by Twisted Willow
Meanwhile, in another wing of the Hall…
Ian & the gents were getting themselves kitted up, some in tartan!
My second shooter Hamish did a cracking job with the dudes
Ian gave his boys some personalised tankards for use in the evening!
The girls meanwhile were in their wedding kit and ready to help Helen into hers!
A few cheeky gifts before heading down to the church!
I always like to capture the first time dad sees his beautiful daughter on her wedding day. It’s often a special moment.
The church is literally next door to Goldsborough Hall, and there’s a secret path and entrance between the two!
Here comes the bride!
Aww
The vicar was lovely and conducted a fab, friendly service.
[All the better for letting me photograph from the front of the church and get this lovely view!]
Then they headed back down the aisle as man & wife…
Unfortunately into the drizzle!
But we still found time for a quick confetti bomb!
Then everyone quickly followed Ian’s cousin, piping the way back to Goldsborough Hall to shelter from the rain!
After a few casual minglers, I spotted the drizzle had lightened, so rounded up the newlyweds for a quick round of relaxed portraits…
It was great to get outside briefly, but rain called play again, so we headed up the staircase to a big ancient window…
There we also conducted the family lineups & a few fun wedding party groupshots!
Then just before the meal, after an initially failed attempt to get a shot of all the guests, the weather cleared up and we all got outside!
[Thanks for your patience folks!]
Then it was time to eat, so guests headed for the wedding meal…
Which was set beautifully!
Including a beautifully handmade cake, courtesy of Jane and Gill!
Everyone enjoyed the evening meal as the sun set…
Then it was time for speeches!
Soon after, it was time to cut the cake and hit the dancefloor!
Before the evening band got the floor rocking!
In a room next door, we set up our fun photobooth and had great craic letting the guests mess about with our silly props!
And a few they’d acquired themselves!
Happy days!
Then we left the happy couple and their pals to party the night away!
So here’s hoping Helen & Ian have a fun honeymoon and a wonderful life together as man & wife!
All the very best,
Barnaby & Hamish
