Last Saturday I joined Dori + Peter for their wedding photos at The Earl of Doncaster Hotel, in Yorkshire!

I crossed various country lines to join Dori and team bride cracking the bucks fizz her parent’s beautiful house in Gainsborough. Dori looked radiant, having just got back from having a drastic haircut at the hairdressers, to surprise her pals (who thought she’d been growing it for the wedding!

After a moving ‘dad reveal’ I zoomed over to the ceremony at Doncaster’s Salvation Army ‘Lakeside Community Church’. Peter was relaxed and surprisingly cool, considering he was in an awesome 3 piece tweed and it was one of the few blazing hot Saturdays we’ve had all summer!

Music was such an important part of this special service. We’ve all seen the ‘Sally Army’ Band playing stirring festive standards in cities around Christmas, but it was so lovely to see the brass and choirs leading this wedding ceremony! Plus Dori even co-wrote a surprise song with her singing coach to walk down the aisle to! The ceremony was made even more special watching the two ‘Majors’ who conducted the ceremony proudly marrying such a dear friend.

After processing out and a wave of heartfelt congratulations, we rallied up for my signature ‘confetti bomb!’. Then we headed down the road to Elmfield Park, for a quick round of family pics and portraits, before crossing the road to ‘The Earl’ for the reception. From the moment you enter this 1940’s hotel, you’re in awe of this Art Deco masterpiece! It’s hard to describe the jazzy vibes and funky details, and felt straight out of The Great Gatsby! The perfect space to enjoy refreshing drinks and nibbles!

Speeches bookended a delicious meal in the ‘Concorde Suite’, followed by a little respite on the terrace. Dori, Peter and I took this chance to take a golden hour turn around the long grass on the Town Fields. Before we knew it, evening guests were up in the ‘Grand Ballroom’, enjoying the majestic opulence and having a go at oil painting (a wedding first!). Dancing was kicked off by Dori and her dad (much to his surprise!), then the newlyweds took a spin, showered in confetti! Then their amazing 2-piece wedding band, ‘Truly Medley Deeply’ (smart name!) kicked off playing slick medleys from across the eras, and got the dancefloor bumping!

It was amazing to join this fun pair and fab at The Earl! All in all, you couldn’t have hoped for a more lovely couple, a nicer day and a cooler venue! The perfect Yorkshire Wedding! I hope you enjoy my wedding story below from this very special day…
