LGBTQ+ Wedding Photographer Yorkshire, Mercure Grange Willerby wedding photos, Gay wedding photography Yorkshire

Last Saturday I joined Jamie & Joel for their wedding photography at The Mercure Grange Park Hotel in Willerby, near Hull in East Yorkshire.

As an LBGTQ+ affirming photographer, I do enjoy photographing a same sex wedding! Out the window go the usual traditions and often what floods in is fun and colourful flamboyance, or in this case a festival of silk jacquard! Just look at those shirts, scarves and waistcoats above, and that’s not even with their steampunk purple overcoats!

Love it!

It was great to spend the day with this sweet, Morris Dancing, Mario Kart-loving pair! Not even the Hull weather could dampen proceedings, and while it threw it down throughout the morning’s relaxed preparations with their wedding party and guests, it thankfully stopped after the ceremony! We managed to even have drinks in the gardens, throw confetti and get the official groups and portraits smashed out, leaving plenty of time to mingle with their near and dear!

Their wedding breakfast room was decorated secretly by close family, and had all sorts of lovely nods to their hobbies (Morris dancing bell shakers on the tables, for all to enjoy!) and a special cake topper imported all the way from the Ukraine!

Speeches after the meal revealed that they’d decided to get married the day after the date they met at Leeds Pride, a full decade ago! During Jamies speech (which he claims ChatGPT helped him write!), he described that when they met it would have actually been illegal for them to marry… Gotta love progress!

As evening reception guests rolled in, a caricaturist and performance poet (who composes personalised on the spot poems for guests at a typewriter!) entertained the guests until the cake was cut. Then Jamie snuck off, leaving a confused Joel alone on the dance-floor, only to re-appear with his concertina to serenade Joel before the first dance! It was all very sweet.

You couldn’t really ask for more from a perfect Yorkshire wedding! It was fun to shoot at a new venue and I hope you enjoy the highlights of their story below as much as I did capturing them:

I’ll be uploading their full set of images to their client area in just a few weeks, so if you’d like to be notified when all their images go live, register to be notified at: https://barnabyaldrick.pic-time.com/-JamieJoel/register

(NB: I’ll only use your email address to notify you about their gallery)

In the meantime, feel free to share this loveliness to Facebook using the buttons at the bottom (or copy and paste the web address into a status), via my Facebook page here or hover to pin to Pinterest!

What a lovely day hey?

Depending on how sore heads were the following morning (and as I left I found them doing mysterious green shots with a pal!) they were hoping to head to Leeds pride (where they met), to continue the celebrations…

So here’s wishing this lovely pair, a life of celebration (and exciting shirts!)

Big love gents,

Barnaby
